The Most Expensive iPod Speakers in the World!

October 22, 2008 by Speakers Fan

Where would the world be without an abundance of gaudy, flashy and super expensive add-ons for commonly used gadgets we ask? In answer to our rhetorical question, well we would all have a lot more money in our pockets. That is for certain. It seems that when some sort of new and hyped gadget is released, like the iPod, there is always an abundance of really pricey additions that one can buy for crazy amounts of cash. Do they really make the item better? Not exactly. Are they really nice and cozy things that we all want, but can do without? Certainly. And the same is true with this set of the most expensive iPod speakers ever to be created, ones that boast true sound, but cost more than a big screen TV. So we find it both amusing and worthwhile to yap a bit about them to you, seeing as they cost so darned much.

Studio-Quality Triode-Tube iPod Speakers
This setup is made in the classic and white Apple molding and features two studio monitors, a large, powered subwoofer and a see-through amp, which we find intriguing. Made exclusively by and sold only at Hammacher Schlemmer, you had better start saving if you think you can afford this set of pricey speakers. The speakers are made from high quality matching double cone speakers that were created specifically for the iPod. The open-faced tube amplifier is designed to smooth over the common distortions that are found in most MP3 files, creating a smooth and warm tone that is balanced. You can also hook up a CD player or a stereo via the extra audio inputs. Overly priced online for about: $3995.00.

Specs:
• Amplifier houses 4 Class-A tubes
• Tube amplifier smoothes over distorted sounds common in MP3 sound files
• Includes: RCA cable & two highly-insulated 13’ triple-core speaker cables with gold-plated connectors
• Matching double-cone, full-range speakers created exclusively for iPod
• Two audio inputs; one for iPod and one standard

If this set of lofty and crazy expensive iPod speakers really gets your head turning, then you won’t want to miss the video below. This video, which we must thank Youtube for, shows a detailed overview of the most expensive iPod in the world, which was created by Norwegian jewelry designer, Thomas Heyerdahl, who dubbed it the ‘iDiamond.’ The dubbing could not be any closer to the truth as this iPod has over 312 diamonds on it, and its own locking case. The earplugs sport another 118 diamonds and are also the most expensive earplugs for an iPod in the world. The metal casing on the ‘iDiamond’ is made from white gold and silver. It is the only piece like it at Dahl has ever created, making it truly unique. And here is the price tag: $41,000.00, but good luck getting your hands on this beauty, there is only one and it’s for show.
